You belong in the Zoo…and the world of Zoo publishing! Georgeanne Irvine, director of corporate publishing for San Diego Zoo Global and an award-winning children’s book author, will share a behind-the-scenes look at the Zoo’s new book publishing endeavor. San Diego Zoo Global Press, which launched last year, is dedicated to publishing books that will inspire kids and adults to care about wildlife and conservation.

Irvine has devoted more than 40 years of her colorful career to the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park. She is the author of more than two dozen children’s books about animals, including San Diego Zoo Global Press’ new Hope and Inspiration collection. In early 2019, she won the prestigious gold medal in the national Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) Benjamin Franklin Awards competition. Ruuxa & Raina: A Cheetah and Dog’s True Story of Friendship and Miracles was named the best non-fiction children’s book of 2018 for ages 8-12. In addition, Karen’s Heart: The True Story of a Brave Baby Orangutan won the silver medal in the same category.
